Teddy Bear armchair on the stage at the Poznań Music Theatre
The outcome of the cooperation between Noti and the Music Theatre, one of the best-known cultural institutions in Poznań, not only appears on stage during the musical Evita but also forms a part of the revamped contemporary interior of the theatre.
The musical is the first – and currently Poland’s only – theatrical performance about the life of Eva Perón-Duarte, the second wife of Argentine President Juan Perón, featuring the original soundtrack composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber – arguably the world’s most famous composer of musical theatre. The performance is directed by Sebastian Gonciarz. Stage design was created by Mariusz Napierała. Choreography was designed by Paulina Andrzejewska, and costumes – by Agata Uchman. The music director of the performance is Piotr Deptuch.
The central element of scenography was Teddy Bear, an upholstered armchair designed by the design studio Wierszyłłowski i Projektanci. Especially for the unique performance, the fabric was covered with print to make it look like a 1950s newspaper. Incidentally, the entire Teddy Bear collection has been inspired by the 1950s and 1960s, which is often considered the “golden age” of Polish design.
Noti has also provided the Theatre with solutions that make the compact foyer and box office areas more functional and elegant-looking thanks to the use of modern minimalist furniture. The box office area is furnished with comfortable Flai armchairs (designed by Małgorzata Bronikowska) and Mishell tables (designed by Piotr Kuchciński). Going into the foyer during the intermission, spectators can rest on the Manta sofa created by the same designer. In contrast, the Theatre Director’s office and the secretary’s office are very formal areas. Their status is subtly emphasized by the Red Dot-winning Clapp collection authored by Piotr Kuchciński.
