CREATOR OF THE YEAR title for Piotr Kuchciński
On Monday, 7 November, a session of the competition jury was held to select winners of Design Alive Awards 2016. The title of CREATOR was awarded to Piotr Kuchciński, the chief designer and Artistic Director at NOTI.
Piotr Kuchciński is the designer behind a number of NOTI’s popular furniture models which are always well suited to the needs of the market and the target groups, including Mishell, Rosco, Tritos, Manta, Origono, Alter, King, Queen, Mula, x40 and Clapp – Red Dot Award winner in 2014. He is also responsible for the supervision and creation of NOTI’s branding, marketing materials, exhibition stands and other brand-building instruments.
The awards are granted by the Design Alive magazine to “recognize people who co-create brands, products, services, spaces and events, and promote the flow of knowledge, skills and inspirations. Winners of Design Alive Awards are expected to respond to the needs of the changing world and society in a conscious, creative and culture-enriching manner. They boldly co-create brands, services, spaces and events, and have the determination and expertise to promote the flow of knowledge, skills and inspirations.”
In addition to the title of Creator, the jury also granted Animator and Strategist 2016 awards.
“The Award was granted in recognition of the winner’s outstanding sensitivity for design and user-centred mindset, and for a skilful combination of an excellent product with an equally competent brand communication. The jury appreciated the winner’s invaluable contribution to changing the Polish furniture industry, and involvement in the creation of strong Polish brands based on superior design quality.”
This year’s winners were selected by a jury consisting of Ewa Trzcionka (head of the jury), editor-in-chief of the “Design Alive” magazine; Magdalena Węglewska, PR Director at Mazda Poland; Małgorzata Żmijska, sociologist, exhibition curator and specialist in design processes; Edyta Ołdak, founder of the association “Z siedzibą w Warszawie” (“Based in Warsaw”); journalist Agnieszka Obszańska; designers Gosia and Tomek Rygalik; Przemo Łukasik, architect at Medusa Group; and Oskar Zięta, designer and scientist, author of original statuettes produced in the FIDU technology which have been presented to winners at gala ceremonies for five years now. Website users have also granted their own awards in an open voting.
